My First Somersauts

On Sunday, I did my very first somersaut at The Little Gym which Daddy & Mommy brought me there for a trial lesson. I enjoyed myself very much, running freely on the spongy mats, falling down as I like, following Teacher Diana's instructions (at least for almost an hour), and best of all... helping myself to all the gym equipments with Teacher Diana's assistance.

Mommy likes The Little Gym's philosophy - "We are committed to allow children to be themselves as they are, and to have fun while they learn. We do not demand that children "be the best," but we expect them to try their best. We want children to feel secure taking risks, trying hard and making mistakes." - coz it aligns with her teaching philosophy for me too. I hope to increase in flexibility, balance and rhythm, and also improve my self-esteem & confidence so that I will be more willing to take risks. Daddy hopes that my listening skills, attention span and the ability to follow directions will improve.

Fun @ Siloso Beach

Last Monday, Mommy bought me a toy truck for sand playing and that got me all excited and looking forward to the weekend to go to the beach! Yes, I've finally outgrown my fear for the feel of sand and the sinking-in feeling.

This morning, Daddy decided to drive all of us to Sentosa to play sand, where the beach is much cleaner and the air is fresher. We parked our car at Vivo City and took a blue train to Siloso Beach. After about 5min walk from the train station, we found a perfect shaded spot to sit down and relax! It's been a very long time since we've been to Sentosa's beach and the scenery was simply breathtaking for a Saturday morning!
Our family is never into picnics, hence we've not prepared any mat for sitting down. Well, the sand is clean enough to just sit on it! Hee! I had so much fun scooping sand into my toy truck and pouring them out to make a mountain, using the castle mould to make my very first "sand castles", and even using my finger to hold and release the sand!! Finally, before we left the beach, we even walked down to let our feet touch the cooling sea water and feel the waves massaging our feet! My first time again!! I love it so much that my shorts got wet when the tide came in a little. Hee! This was one eventful Saturday morning for me! I'm sure looking forward for more!

Part 1: 6th Feb '10, Saturday
Daddy & Mommy brought me to the zoo. I think it's only my 3rd time there, but this is the 1st time I can fully appreciate all the animals we came across. It was a short 2 hour walk. We reached the zoo at about 4pm. The weather was perfect, not hot at all compared to the previous morning visits. We strolled along the main circular route and managed to see most of the animals in the zoo. The most memorable part was the feeding of the kangeroos! It was such close encounter with an animal as tall (if not taller) as me! I was brave. An uncle poured some pellets into my little hand, Mr Kangeroo came by and started eating the pellets, I tolerated the ticklish feeling but what I didn't like was Mr Kangeroo left his gluey saliva on my palm after eating! Haha! After that one feed, the rest was kindly taken over by Mommy. I just stood beside her to pat pat the nice kangeroos. I think I still prefer to feed our Peanut!

Part 2: 7th Feb '10, Sunday
Our church cell group had a mini celebration for me... My cousin Rafael gor-gor gave me a transformer-plane, Ryan gor-gor gave me a Play-doh stamper, and when we reached home, Carys & Cayden left their gifts at our gate... a red sweater and a Thomas song book with music! I love all my gifts, as well as my angpows! Here's a big HUG and THANK U to all of U! Yeah!

Part 3: 8th Feb '10, Monday (Actual Birth Day)
Daddy, Mommy, Ah-Ma, Ah-Gong and myself arrived in school at 10am sharp for my birthday celebration with all my friends and teachers in school!

This was how my big 3rd birthday cake looks like... the Disney Cars designed specially chosen by me! At first, I enjoyed all the attention showered upon me... all the cameras and flashes snapped at me and my cake! But not too long after, my facial expression started to change, I felt awkward as I'm not used to be in the limelight at all. Hee! I blew my 3 candles in 3 breaths... Mommy held my hand as I cut the cake... the teachers took over to cut the cake into slices... I distribute the goodie bags to all my friends and teachers! Wow! That was a great morning!
After my afternoon nap, Daddy & Mommy brought me to the Kids Kampong at Pasir Ris. It was the best time to go coz it's a Monday and we were the only visitors there! It's as if Daddy & Mommy booked the entire farm for me to play there! I felt like a VIP again! We fed the kois in the pond, the chickens, ducks and goose, as well as the bunnies. Boy! They were all starving!! Especially the kois, even though they were in the water, they could still charge towards us and squeeze their way to get to the food! Their tails even splashed water onto us! *splish splash* That was a great experience!
After Kids Kampong, Daddy drove to the nearby big playground at Elias Park! Daddy & Mommy had wanted to bring me there again since my last visit when I was only one-year-old plus. This time I'm a much bigger boy who loves all playgrounds, not to miss such a big one! I enjoyed myself super much on the swing, driving on the fire engine, bouncing on the scooters with Daddy & Mommy! What thrilled them most was that I've totally overcomed my fears for the sand! I could walk confidently on my own on the beach without fearing I might sink into it, I could take out my sandals and touch the sand with my bare feet! Believe it or not, this was my very 1st time! YIPPEE!!! This was my best birthday ever, and Daddy & Mommy were as happy as me!!!

Carys is my favourite childhood friend and neighbour. I was overjoyed to share my toys and play with her when Auntie Michelle brought her over to visit me.

Even though it was a short 1 hour stay, we had lots of fun playing with each other. We fixed Lego blocks... she drove the Little Tikes car while I scooted away on my scooter... we dropped money into the Mickey Mouse vending machine... and fed treats to Peanut together.

We even gave each other a big hug before we said "good-bye". Do we look like a cute pair of childhood boyfriend-girlfriend?? Haha! Hope we can meet up to play more often!

MacDonald's... I'm loving it... ???

Daddy & Mommy have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. The irony is... Most parents have to keep their kids away from MacDonald's yummy french fries, but my parents had to throw in some attractive incentives to make me eat those golden yellow potato sticks willingly! Haha!

Other than french fries, some of the other food that I've finally decided to give it a try are bread, biscuits, noodles and rice. I may not try those food all the time too, it depends on my mood. Hee! Daddy & Mommy pray that I will accept all types of food by the time I reach 4 years old.

FUN @ Hong Kong (again) - Day 3

Day 3 was the most boring day. I slept till 9.15am and we only left the apartment at 10am. We took the train to Hong Kong station, and walked quite a long way to the Ferry Terminal, where we took a ferry to Park Island.

We were heading to the Noah's Ark situated at Park Island! We imagined that there would be a nice play area for families to enjoy themselves, as advertised by the HK Tourism Board website. However, there were very few people in the ferry going to the island. The walk to the Ark was rather long but scenic. We paid S$50 for the entrance fees, thinking that there would be many things to explore and play inside. To our dismay, the place was more suitable for teens as the activites were meant for young adults. The playground was also not for toddlers like me, and it was closed anyway. I kind of preferred the upper museum level, which was like Science Centre to me, with buttons to press, things to play with, but I don't understand very much of the display.

Well, that was a disappointing trip. So Daddy & Mommy decided to pamper themselves with roasted goose for lunch at the famous Yung Kee Restaurant, even though the time was already 2pm. It was a yummy meal, but the timing for lunch was late and our plan for seafood dinner at Sai Kung was called off.

So we decided on shopping instead! After my nap (and tantrums along the streets), we travelled to the largest mall at Causeway Bay - Times Square.

This Christmas, Times Square invited the renowned Taiwanese illustrator Jimmy to create a Christmas Street themed “A date at the Times”, staged at the second floor Atrium and Open Piazza. This creative assembles Jimmy’s signature characters under the trees of elegant and decorative lights, all wrapped in Christmas’ love and dream in order to share the blissful moment with the people in Hong Kong.

It was Christmas eve! Many roads were blocked and the streets were crowded with many people - walking, shopping, taking pictures, queueing up for restaurants, etc. This was the first time I spent Christmas overseas and the feeling was good! But I still miss my home in Singapore! Hee!

FUN @ Hong Kong (again) - Day 2

Disneyland!!! Here we come again!!!

It was Disneyland @ Christmas! Everywhere was beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations! We love the holiday setting... except for the whole lot of unconsiderate people from China who spoilt part of the Christmas atmosphere. The whole park was crowded with people!

Time passed so quickly, and the queues were so long... I only managed to take my favourite rides - "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh", "It's a Small World" and "Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters" - as well as watch "The Golden Mickey" and it was already lunch time. We took a quick bite and managed to catch the floats display on the Main Street, before we travel all the way back to our apartment for my nap!

By the time we reached Disneyland again after rest (and not forgetting after throwing my tantrums), it was already evening and night was setting in. It was a totally different atmosphere as there was Christmas street performances, lighting of the huge Christmas tree, as well as the very unique lens to see the special lighting effects of Christmas!!

The best part is of coz the spectacular fireworks! We grabbed a quick dinner, found ourselves a good position right in front of the castle, sat on the cold floor and waited for almost 30min to catch the best view of the fireworks! Mommy was quite satisfied with me for being able to stay at one location for so long! She thought I could have thrown tantrums and we would have to give up our best "seats" to walk around. Hee! That was the longest day of our stay in Hong Kong. The fireworks began at 9pm, and we slept at 11.30pm that night.

FUN @ Hong Kong (again) - Day 1

It was our 2nd trip to Hong Kong! Why did we choose to go Hong Kong again?? Coz of Disneyland... and it's one familiar place where we can explore around free-and-easy... and Mommy can cook my meals everyday! This time we decided not to stay in hotels but to try out the Citadine Ashley apartment that Carys' family stayed in during their last visit.

We took the Airport Express from the Airport Terminal 1 station to Hong Kong station. I couldn't resist any further and drifted to dreamland for a short while during the smooth train journey. Citadine Ashley is situated in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui. This was how our cosy apartment look like...

Everything was COOL and very clean! We were disappointed that they do not provide a playpen for me like the Disney hotel did. However, we managed to resolve the situation quite quickly... Mommy & Daddy will take turns to share the queen-size bed with me! Hee! The only complain Mommy had was that the bed was so hard, it made her hip bones hurt!

This was how the surroundings of Tsim Sha Tsui look like... just like the typical scenes in Hong Kong dramas...

I took a short nap after checking into our room, while Mommy cooked my dinner. After the rest, we headed straight for the Peak which we missed visiting the last time. We took the Peak Tram 45 degrees up (and down) the mountain... That was indeed a great steep experience!
The weather up on the Peak was cold but not as cold as we expected. Mommy came prepared with a tiny pair of gloves to warm my little hands as and when needed. The sky was clear and there was no mist... and we saw the best sunset we've ever seen!

My very first Thomas the Tank Engine train set is complete! Yippee!!!

This is a 2nd hand train set (from Jiu-Ma) combined with new add-ons that Mommy bought recently. Previously, there was only 1 train that was mechanically spoilt. Now, there is 1 additional brand-new train that moves on battery, while I manually move the spoilt one along the railway track. Hee!

I enjoy assembling & disassembling the tracks too... this improves the fine motor skills of my fingers. :)

I love my school!

My parents enrolled me into Cherie Hearts Kids-At-Play when I was 19 months old. Since then, I've always enjoyed going to school (no fuss!)... coz the teachers are nice... I get to know more & more friends there... I enjoy playing with my friends... there are many interesting toys & puzzles & books I can help myself with... I enjoy going for nature walks at MacRitchie... I pick up many self-help skills... and I learn new things everyday!!!

Today was the 1st session of Parent-Teacher Conference that Mommy attended. It was a great opportunity for Mommy to meet my PlayGroup1 Teachers-in-Charge - Teacher Faith and 王老师.

Here's my progress report as well as some of the art pieces I've done...

Daddy & Mommy have been very curious about my behaviour in school. Mommy is relieved now that she learnt from my teachers that I've been a quiet & good-mannered boy who is always willing to share. I know that I shouldn't throw tantrums or make things difficult for my teachers, but I juz can't help venting my frustrations when my friends tear down the tower of blocks that I've built! *hmph* In general, I'm quite a darling to my teachers, so much so that 王老师 has to admit that she tends to neglect me to attend to my other crying friends, coz I'm such a good boy to play on my own and she need not worry too much about me. Hee!

FUN @ the Playground with Carys

As they watched over us to ensure our safety while we played together, our mommies were recalling the times when they shared lunch together when we were only 3-5 months old... Even during the last few times we met up at each other's home and at the playground as well, we were still playing individually!

Finally, we're big enough to play, climb, crawl, jump, run & baby-talk together!

Ever since we had so much fun playing together downstairs, when Daddy or Mommy asks me "where is Carys?", my reply would be "playground!" (the answer is no longer "home"). Hee!

Explore the world the FUN way... The eXplorerkid is a family-friendly club with the largest indoor playground in Singapore!

Daddy has registered me as an eXplorerkid member, and we're back at the playground to have more FUN! I'm more confident of playing in the ball pool on my own and climbing up the maze structure with Daddy & Mommy. My favourite is still at the toddler play area where I can play the little slide safely.
It was a short 1 hour play this time coz we came straight after Mommy knocked off from work. We'll definitely be back again for longer play time, especially after the school holidays when there are lesser gor-gors & jie-jies running around.

School has been quite an enjoyable time for me to play with my friends and to learn new things. Daddy & Mommy do not have high expectations for me to pick up my A-B-Cs & 1-2-3s quickly, but they do wish that I will start eating normally like all my friends soon!

FUN @ Hong Kong - Day 3

Day 3: Hong Kong to Home

I woke up at 8am with a swollen right eye!! Daddy & Mommy were super worried. Thank God that the hotel counter staff was really nice & helpful. She researched on the nearest paediatric clinics for us and even instructed how we can get there via MTR. It was a minor eye allergy as diagnosed, I was prescribed eye drops and anti-histamine, and we were able to continue to have fun on our last day in Hong Kong.

We were able to reach Disneyland at its opening time - 10.30am despite the detour to the clinic. Well, we missed the Autopia drive at Disneyland on Day 2, hence we're back at Disneyland again to grab the wheel. However, it was a great disappointment... Though the queue was a short 5-min wait, I wasn't allowed to sit directly behind the wheel for safety reasons. I had to sit between Daddy & Mommy and miss the fun driving! Well, Daddy tried to put me on his lap once we started driving off, but not for long, we were caught midway and I was buckled up in between Daddy & Mommy again!It was no fun... I think pretending to drive our family car was more interesting! Hmph! *angry*

What was worse... it started to drizzle... then RAIN!! Oh no... It rained for almost the whole morning and afternoon. How blessed that we've already been to the park yesterday, or our trip to Hong Kong would have been wasted! Thank God again! :)

Daddy & Mommy spent the rest of the afternoon doing some last minute shopping in the nearby malls before heading for the airport to fly home. The return plane ride was even easier for Daddy & Mommy, coz I fell asleep almost immediately after the plane took off! I slept from 8.30pm to 10pm... Daddy & Mommy were glad that they could at least catch a movie before I woke up! Hee!

Shortly after I woke up, the plane touched down... we were back in Singapore... HOME SWEET HOME!!! It was very short, but an enjoyable & memorable family trip!

FUN @ Hong Kong - Day 2

Day 2: Hong Kong Disneyland

I love Disneyland! I love watching the Mickey Mouse & whale fountain!

We woke up at 7.30am, the sky seemed cloudy but not dark. While Mommy was cooking my porridge, it rained heavily! We were disappointed, we thought our trip to Hong Kong Disneyland was wasted! Thank God, after our yummy breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, the rain stopped. We were able to visit Disneyland as planned.

I had the most fun taking the ride - the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh! I went for the ride 3x in total... loving every moment when Tigger jumped out in the dark!

Mommy is never good at videography, but she tried to capture as many scenes of the rides so that I can re-live the memories of Disneyland anytime! Hee! The other rides were interesting too, such as the Jungle River Cruise & the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.

Along the walkways were many pushcarts selling souvenirs, caps, toys, etc. I was only interested with 2 toys on display...

The main reason that we chose to stay in the Disney Hollywood hotel was for the convenience of going back to our room for my afternoon nap. It felt really good to doze off and recharge for 2 whole hours, before heading back to the park for more action!

And the enchanting fireworks display... WOW!!! It's the best fireworks show we've ever watched!

Before we said bye-bye to Disneyland, I muz watch my favourite fountain one last time...

I'll miss Disneyland! Hope we'll be able to visit again in the future!

FUN @ Hong Kong - Day 1

Here's the detailed update of our HK trip...

Day 1: Singapore to Hong Kong
I woke up very early at 6am when I heard Daddy & Mommy dressing up & doing last minute packing of luggage. I had my breakfast at home. Then Grandpa & Grandma (maternal) came by to send us to Changi Airport! After checking-in, we had quite a lot of time hanging around before boarding. We found the children's playground inside Terminal 1; I had a good time playing there... the whole playground to myself and Daddy and Mommy!

On board of the Cathay Pacific aeroplane, Daddy & Mommy were very surprised that I could sit buckled in my seat with no fuss! That's coz I saw all the uncles & aunties around me, as well as Daddy & Mommy, all sitted & buckled up too. The plane took off... I refused my pacifier offered by my parents juz in case my ears may hurt with the change in pressure... very soon the plane was flying smoothly in the sky already! I ate some prawn congee and apple juice for lunch (from Mommy's share). When the food trays were cleared, I slept in Mommy's arms till the plane touched down at Hong Kong!

We took a local cab to the Disney's Hollywood Hotel where we'll be staying for 2 nights. Mommy was happy that they upgraded our room from garden to park view without extra charges. Daddy was pleased that the hotel actually do have playpen (instead of wooden baby cot) for me to sleep in! That means Daddy & Mommy don't have to worry about me falling off the adult bed! Haha!
After unpacking, we spent the afternoon venturing to Kowloon - Tsim Sha Tsui, via the Mickey Mouse MTR. We all love that cute train, of coz! We had dinner at the Harbour City, the biggest shopping centre in HK, and the shops there were relatively high-end to do any shopping. We even caught a very picturesque view of a large SuperStar Virgo cruise ship in the sunset setting! WOW!

My parents missed the Symphony of Lights display along the harbourfront coz I was tired and getting cranky, and the fog was simply too thick to enjoy the lighting. Oh well... we all went back to hotel to have an early rest.

Valentine's Day (Part 2)

It was also our first time taking the magnificient Singapore Flyer and it's also for free! (Many thanks to Jiu-Ma again!)

Reaching 42 stories high, the Flyer comprises a 150m diameter wheel, built over a 3-story terminal building, giving it a total height of 165m. A complete rotation of the wheel took more than 30 minutes due to the Valentine's Day events happening in the some capsules. Nevertheless, it was so cool to be up the flyer at night, enjoying the spectacular views of the entire Marina Bay!
Guess what again... I was only interested in the sightseeing for short moments, and most of the time was spent playing with my toys and walking round & round the capsule!

Valentine's Day (Part I)

14th February 2009 was a special & eventful day for my family!

Thanks to Jiu-Ma who got up very very early to get us the free tickets that we were able to take the waterboat for the first time! We boarded the waterboat at The Fullerton Waterboat House, and the journey down the Singapore River began...
We passed by Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, Robertson Quay... We saw many couples sitting along the steps of the River, dining in the restaurants, strolling on the bridges... as well as fun-loving people swinging high up on the G-Max Reverse Bungy. Actually, as usual, most of these observations were made by Mommy, coz after about 10 minutes of boat ride, I was already busy exploring the waterboat and Daddy was also busy looking after me. Hee!

FUN in the Cable Car

I fell sick with flu & cough immediately after my birthday. Daddy & Mommy took leave today, planning to bring me to the Bird Park, but I wouldn't be able to play with water there and the weather was too hot for outdoors. Hence, the idea of bringing me for a cable car ride came across Daddy's mind!

A cable car ride spans over 1.6 km. The cableway was the first to be built in South East Asia and is still the first and only cableway that crosses a harbour. We began our journey starting from the Mount Faber, Harbour Front Tower Two and Sentosa, and all the way back. Mommy initially thought that I might be afraid of heights, but *hee* she was the one who's afraid!

The scenery from high above was indeed an eye-opener for me. Guess what eventually caught my attention?!?!? It's the cement mixers, excavators, bulldozers and many more construction cranes... juz like those in Bob the Builder cartoon! Haha!

I celebrated my 2nd birthday over the weekend. Daddy & Mommy bought me 3 character cakes in total... Thomas the Tank Engine & Bob the Builder cakes from Polar, and Swensens' Disney Cars ice cream cake!
I enjoyed the singing of birthday song & celebration with my immediate family members! And I only managed to blow 1 candle, coz I was more interested in cutting the cakes! Hee!

Daddy & Mommy took leave to clean up our house for the New Year, and they decided to move Peanut out into the living room area, so I can finally have my very own room to play in, as well as to store my toys! Look at how nicely decorated it is with bright colourful furniture... Now I can sit on my chair... play my cars & excavator... do colouring or reading on the table...
So what happens to Peanut?? She has moved to the corner behind the front door, and Mommy has fenced up a small area for her to roam around when we're at home... :)

Drinking from straw might be a natural skill to pick up for most toddlers by the age of 2, but not for me... I was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorders (SPD) and currently undergoing occupational therapy. Oral defensiveness is just part of the SPD checklist, ever since I was 9 months old, I only allowed my NUK bottle tits, NUK pacifiers and spoons (carrying soft/minced food) to enter my mouth. Daddy & Mommy are praying for me every day... when will I overcome oral defensiveness and eat like a normal kid...

However, Daddy & Mommy are overjoyed today that I finally managed to drink from a straw just 2 weeks before I turn 2! I can finally use the Pigeon MagMag bottle that Mommy bought for me about a year ago! Mommy is also going to get me a nice Disney Cars water bottle as soon as the departmental stores reopen after Chinese New Year.

FUN @ Underwater World & Dophin Lagoon

Our family drove all the way to Sentosa today! Daddy & Mommy decided to bring me to the Underwater World Singapore & Dophin Lagoon. It's been a few years since Daddy & Mommy last visited the well-known oceanarium; the previous time they went, it rained so they missed the dophin show. So they decided to bring me to see the ocean fishes & creatures!
At Underwater World, we were greeted by the feeding of sea turtles at the entrance. Whoa! They were hungry! Next, a 'voyage to the bottom of the sea' begins at the water’s edge, with shallow rock turtle and ray pools! There were brightly colored corals and exotic ocean dwellers (including moray eels, sea dragons and jelly fishes) too. We met the graceful dugong, Gracie, too!

Amidst the majestic rays, fearsome sharks, great shoals of big fishes and a host of other creatures that inhabit the ocean depths, I was greatly attracted to the amazing 83-metre-long moving travelator housed inside the underwater tunnel. Daddy says I'm going to be an engineer when I grow up, coz I seem to be only interested in cars, travelators, escalators, ATMs, etc... and not the animals in the zoo nor the fishes swimming in the water! :P
After lunch, we went straight for the dophin lagoon to meet the pink dolphins. The tickets to the Dolphin Lagoon were included in our Underwater World ticket, hence it'll be a pity if we were to miss the highly intelligent Indo-Pacific Humpback Dolphins. The pink dophins were so adorable & intelligent & well-trained! Well, that was observed by Mommy, coz I was busy playing with my cars instead of looking out for the dolphins making appearances out of the water surface. Haha! Anyway, it was indeed a good show! Well done, little dolphins! Hee!

Themed 'A Sweet Christmas in Singapore', the decorations will centre around the Sweet Family who live in Christmas Town and run a Sweet Shoppe. The family is celebrating Christmas in Singapore and spreading sweet cheer along Orchard Road and the Marina Bay, which will be transformed into a fantasy candy wonderland. The light-up is conceptualised by Creative Director Dick Lee and will feature a landscape adorned with colourful gumdrops, candy cane street lamps, delectable cupcake houses and giant doughnuts. Since we didn't set up our Christmas tree this year (coz my toys were all over the living room yet to be organised), we decided to stroll down Orchard Road last Sunday to experience Christmas 2008! There was a huge crowd and many were taking pictures of the beautiful lightings.Hee! Daddy & I managed to take a nice picture with Junior Sweet! He even gave me a little packet of sweets. I was so shy to take it initially, but Mommy said it was ok so I accepted it. :)

Last year in October, I met the dreadful green (monster) nebulizer when I was down with flu for a week & my lungs were wheezy with phlegm.
A year later, we meet again! This time, I was diagnosed with minor bronchitis. But I'm older & braver now! Mommy was so proud of me... coz when she placed that mouthpiece over my nose & mouth once again, I juz sat with her & watched tv for the entire 10min of medication! Actually, I'm so glad to be able to spend the extra long weekend with Mommy (5 days since last Thurs to today). It was indeed extra bonding time for us! Hee!

Now that I've started going to school, Mommy decides to teach me to hold the spoon well and eat independently. Although I can be quite selective about the type of food that goes into my mouth, I can be very interested in eating when it comes to my favourite foods... such as almond paste, frozen Yami yogurt, Nestle brown rice cereal (my breakfast), Shih Lin's taiwan mee suah (without oysters)... Mommy hopes the list will get longer!

Daddy & Mommy has started sending me to school to let me learn new things (esp to eat)!

Few weeks ago, they tried me out at the Bishan NTUC Childcare. The environment was very clean & neat, school fees was affordable, but the teachers to children ratio was 1:8 even for young toddlers which my parents felt should be given more attention esp during outdoor playtime.

Hence, they decided to move on to find another childcare for me. They searched around the vinicity of Bishan, AMK and Thomson... and came across this very nice & big & new school... Cherie Hearts Kids-at-Play @ Westlake Ave. The school operates in 2 huge semi-detached houses joined together. The environment was very clean & spacious & neat with its own little playground. The school fees is much steeper but the best thing about the school is that it's NEW with only 7 children & 5 babies (at infantcare), which means lesser chance for me to fall sick!

Anyway, I was quite cranky on my 1st day at Westlake's Cherie Hearts, coz I woke up too early at 7am and I couldn't have my usual morning nap at 11am. So I ended up dozing off while my friends were still playing... Hee...

Today is my 2nd day at school and it was much better. I had a good night's rest and was fully-charged! And we had water play at the back of the school in the late morning... the part I enjoyed most!

After 2 days of trial at Cherie Hearts, Daddy & Mommy has quite decided to enroll me for the half-day session. Mommy was so proud of me coz I was such an independent boy and I didn't cry after she left me (to hide outside & observe me). I was a good boy generally except for the eating part when I simply refuse to eat! Well, my parents hope I'll learn to eat from my fellow classmates eventually.

My Water Bottle

Daddy & Mommy were so relieved that I've finally "chosen" a water bottle! Other than my NUK milk bottle with drinking spout, I've rejected so many other bottles... be it soft, rubbery or hard spout, straw or non-spill spout... I disliked them all! Mommy had spent more than $50 and I've shed much tears in the entire 2-3 weeks' process.

Finally, Mommy discovered that the Avent hard spout might be quite similar to my NUK spout by simply removing the non-spill rubber below. Of coz, that means my water bottle will definitely spill if I topple it, but now I've got a new Avent water bottle (most right in the picture) at last! And Mommy has even decorated my bottle for me with nice Pooh stickers!! Yippee!

We decided to visit the special Garden last Sunday...

The weather was super sunny & humid. It was so cooling to be drenched in water!
It was juz a short visit coz the late morning sun was simply too hot to stay any longer. We'll be back for sure in a few months' time when I'm older! Cheers!

Daddy & Mommy decided to celebrate this year's Mid-Autumn / Lantern Festival with me.

Last Monday, they brought me to the Chinese Garden to see the Singapore Chinese Garden Lantern Festival 2008 (F8 – Hello Kitty Go Races)! It was truly an eye-opener to see such huge & cute lanterns in the Garden. My favourite was the cartoon characters on racing cars... Mommy's favourite was the My Melody bunny!

Tonite, we brought our doggy lantern down for a stroll... We walked to the nearby Bishan Active park and back. Many kids were admiring at the cute lantern Mommy got for me, but I wasn't really interested coz I was more excited about running around at the playground.

Daddy & Mommy bought 2 tickets to the Singapore Fireworks Celebrations 2008 on the 23rd August, and they decided to bring me there despite the drizzling rain. I dislike having to put on the big & uncomfortable raincoat that I was crying throughout on the floating platform while waiting for the fireworks display. The only time I enjoyed myself was the short 15-20 minutes of the fireworks, which was really spectacular & beautiful!!!

Hello Birdies!!!

We're back at the Bird Park... Daddy & Mommy brought me back again, this time to cover more of the park! The weather was perfect and the afternoon sun wasn't too hot. Oh... how I missed the swans and ducks and penguins!! They're still my favourite!
We managed to circle the whole park to see most of the birds, such as the noisy talking birds, pink flamingoes, big-mouthed pelicans, as well as the dinosaurs decendants ostriches and emus. However, I'm not quite interested in caged-up birdies, so we gave the hawks, eagles, lories, hornbills & toucans a miss this round.
I enjoyed myself most at the children's Splash & Slide station. We came prepared with a change of clothes for me, so I was allowed to have fun & get wet! Look at how much fun I had... Daddy got quite wet too running after me! Haha!

Daddy & Mommy decided to join our neighbours, Uncle Chong Yew, Auntie Michelle & Carys, to the Jurong Bird Park this afternoon with their free entry pass that admits 4.

This was my 1st time to the Bird Park. Daddy & Mommy were so amazed that I could be so thrilled by juz looking at the graceful black swans & mandarin ducks waddling in the pond outside the entrance (compared to my indifferent response to the animals in the zoo 2 months ago)!!

This visit to the Bird Park lasted about half an hour due to the unforseen rain. Hence, I only managed to see a few types of birds - parrots, penguins, owls, spoonbills and scarlet ibises.
Daddy & Mommy promised that they'll definitely bring me back to see the birds again... Bye bye BIRDIES!!

Hiya... I'm back from a weekend stay at my grandparents' place! I had such a wonderful time there... Apparently, I don't seem to miss home or Daddy or Mommy very much.

Fyi, Daddy & Mommy went on their 2nd honeymoon to ClubMed Bintan, so I was left in the care of my Ah-Gong & Ah-Ma over the weekend.

I had my Ah-Gong & Ah-Ma's companion for all 3 days... they brought me shopping for a bigger-size pair of sandals (yes, my feet are growing!) and they had no idea that I can be so naughty throwing tantrums at shopping centres.

This morning, Mommy decided to take some pictures of me after not seeing me for 3 days. So I decided to do some cute cheeky poses for her! Hee!!

Ever since the nanny quit a month ago, I've been taken care by my paternal Grandma & Grandpa. I've grown much closer to them & I enjoyed their company very very much coz I get to go to the bus-stop & playground almost every morning! Hee!

The Laptop & Me

Dining out with me is quite a difficult chore... and that's the main reason why we seldom eat out. (Another reason is that I prefer to eat at home, in the comfort of my highchair and TV!)

Hence, occasionally when my parents choose to dine out, they need to choose an eating place with a reasonably clean environment, as well as a table big enough for my "companion"... Daddy's laptop! Only with the laptop am I able to sit on the highchair long enough for my parents to enjoy their meal.

This time round, I'm down with fever & bad diarrhoea. Last Thursday, Daddy & Mommy were woken up by my crying... my body temperature was hot, my bottom was messy & my tummy was so uncomfortable. They rushed me down to see a paediatrician and I was initially diagnosed with viral infection of the digestive system. It was such a heartbreaking time for Daddy & Mommy, coz my fever was as high as 38.5 degrees Celsius, and whatever I eat came out almost immediately from the bottom.

Yesterday morning, Mommy was even more shocked to find blood in my poo, and Daddy immediately drove me down to see Dr Chan again. Dr Chan took samples of my poo for lab testing, and the latest diagnosis was salmonella poisoning (results will be out soon to confirm the diagnosis). My bum was so painful from the antibiotics jabs given on each side yesterday & this morning. *Ouch!* But the jabs did help to bring the body temperature down and lessen the frequency of my poo-ing.

Mommy was glad that my appetite was not affected by the discomfort in my tummy. I was a very good boy to drink lotsa water, as well as finished all the Isomil milk and plain porridge she prepared for me. Although she knows that nothing much will be absorbed, but at least I won't go hungry.

After much practice & falling (*ouch*), I've finally mastered standing up on my own. Now I can truly explore the world on my own! Hee!

Daddy & Mommy are really glad that I can walk & stand up on my own. I'm also tall enough (75cm) to waddle in the baby pool (with a float just in case).

Fun @ Pasir Ris Park Playground

Daddy & Mommy took leave today, so they can bring me out to play! We decided to head for Pasir Ris Park playground (near Elias Road) since the weather was good.
I truly enjoyed myself very much coz the playground was suitable for my age. My favourite part of the playground was the colourful "maze" area where I could explore on my own on the rubbery ground (without worries that I would fall & scratch my knee caps).

It was also my 1st time on the swing... Watch me go "wheeeee..."!! It was really fun swinging in mid-air... to and fro... to and fro...

Too bad our playground downstairs don't have a swing, else I can play it everyday.

To enable more Singaporeans and tourists to enjoy the Chingay Parade, Chingay celebrations has moved to the HDB Heartlands... and we're so privileged to be staying along Bishan St 22 to be able to witness the wonderful event yesterday...

Mommy has finally succeeded in teaching me to hold my own milk bottle when I drink my milk-milk. I've been so lazy all the while wanting her to hold it for me. Now I need to learn how to tilt the bottle to drink the remaining milk-milk when it's finishing.

Daddy & Mommy brought me to the Changi Airport Terminal 2's Swensen's for my actual birthday celebration. I had my very 1st Birthday Sundae with 3 scoops of ice-cream (cookies & cream, chocolate & yam flavours) and a short piece of banana to hold the candle! It was yummy (though I don't really like the yam flavour)!

You must be wondering who took the photos for us... it was Jiu-Jiu! Jiu-Jiu, Jiiu-Ma & Rafael gor-gor were there to join us in the celebration too!

After the meal, all of us took a slow walk to the new Terminal 3. It was like a huge shopping mall! It was so fascinating looking at the cool layout of the Terminal, as well as the large crowd of people there. The only disappointment was that I couldn't see a single aeroplane coz of the light's reflection on the glass panels.

Preparations for the Party...
Yesterday morning, Mommy started to decorate the living room for my 1st birthday party. I was surprised & thrilled to see such a pretty banner hanging up there when I woke up from my morning nap! I just can't help looking at it the whole of yesterday!

The Bash...

It was a fairly small gathering of my grandparents (both paternal & maternal), Gu-Gu, Jiu-Jiu & Jiu-Ma & cousin Rafael gor-gor, my Mommy's cousin "Ah-Boy" uncle, my neighbours Uncle Chong Yew & Auntie Michelle & Carys, as well as my church friends Uncle Eugene & Auntie Sujia & Jo-en gor-gor. A simple dinner was served; the food was yummy though the satay & curry were a little too spicy. Few photos were taken coz everyone was pre-occupied enjoying the food & taking turns to entertain me.

The customised Pooh & Friends Birthday cake...
It was a black forest cake of yummy chocolate & chunky berries, from Pine Gardens cake shop. Although it was not customised exactly the way Mommy wanted it to be, it still looked cute & personalised. Mommy even prepared a musical candle (that plays the "Happy Birthday" song) for my cake!
I was very tired by 7.45pm, so we had to cut the cake before everyone finished eating their dinner. (Uncle Eugene, I'm so sorrie that I juz couldn't wait any longer!) After the cake-cutting, I had my refreshing bath & milk-milk, and by 9pm I was off to Dreamland... and finally...
